Where you will be

Set just 50 minutes from Reykjavík, this house rests quietly on the shores of Álftavatn — a still, expansive lake framed by mountains and edged with a striking black sand beach. The setting feels remote and elemental, yet remarkably accessible, offering both solitude and ease. From here, some of Iceland’s most iconic landscapes lie within easy reach. The thundering cascade of Gullfoss, the geothermal spectacle of Geysir, and the dramatic rift valley of Þingvellir National Park form part of the celebrated Golden Circle — all ideal for day explorations before returning to the calm of the lake. Days here can be as active or as unhurried as you wish: morning rounds of golf under wide Nordic skies, horseback riding across volcanic plains, white-water rafting along glacial rivers, or diving between tectonic plates in the crystalline waters of Silfra. In winter, ice caves and glacier hikes add another layer of drama to the landscape. This is a place where Iceland reveals its contrasts — fire and ice, movement and stillness — all from the quiet comfort of your own lakeside retreat.
