Rafter Villanders

Villanders is a sunlit village above South Tyrol’s Eisack Valley, surrounded by alpine pastures, forests, and far-reaching mountain views. The area blends Italian and alpine influences, creating a distinctive atmosphere shaped by culture, landscape, and local tradition. Villanders sits on a high terrace above the Eisack Valley in South Tyrol, with wide, open views across the valley towards the Dolomites. The village is shaped by elevation and light, with long sightlines, clear air, and a strong sense of openness that comes from being set above the valley floor. From the village, paths lead directly onto the Villanderer Alm, one of South Tyrol’s largest alpine pasture areas. Wide meadows, forest edges, and gently rising terrain create long routes for walking and cycling across the plateau. As the land steepens towards the surrounding rock formations, the landscape also opens into varied climbing terrain, embedded naturally in the structure of the mountains rather than separated from everyday movement through the area.
